Privacy Policy

Skipton Computer Services is registered with the ICO as we store personal information for accounting purposes as required by UK law. The ICO registration reference is ZA313142.

We take privacy seriously, and as such only the essential information necessary for accounting purposes is recorded and stored for as short a period as necessary.

Cookies are not used by Skipton Computer Services on the website. Analytics are measured using a javascript program which is run by Skipton Computer Services on our own server, this records how long you were on the website, the browser you used, and the country you visited from. We do this to understand how our customers view the website. The Remote Support installer help page uses a program to determine your browser, this is provided by 51degrees.

Computer support normally involves giving us full access to your computer. We will only look through any personal files when you ask us to, or as part of the support you've requested (e.g. by asking us to backup your documents we clearly need to access them). Any records of passwords you give us will be destroyed after the support has been completed.

Remote desktop management is a service we offer, if you use this service you agree to letting us have full remote access to your computer for the duration of the support session. Clear instructions are provided on how to run the remote software and when the program you run is closed we no longer have any remote access. If you request it you can install the program so that it will allow us to connect in the future without you re-running the program; this is entirely your choice, and is only suggested for business customers who have support agreements in place. This service uses one of our servers located in the USA (but fully managed by us) running software called Mesh Central which we have customised for Skipton Computer Services. When you use the service your IP address will be logged for a for a short time. All remote connections are encrypted.

You may send messages to us from the website, by email, by WhatsApp, or by sms and these messages are kept for business purposes. If you do this the message is emailed from this website (hosted in London by Hostus) to Fastmail who have robust security in place. If you send an sms then that is sent directly to our mobile provider from your provider. All accounting data is kept securely in Skipton for as long as needed by HMRC. We keep messages as long as necessary to provide the support requested.

If you have a query about what data we have stored about you then please contact us at privacy@skiptoncomptuerservices.co.uk
